In 1965, when NASA was looking for a watch suitable to be worn in space, the chronographs of all the leading brands in the world underwent an extreme test-run. The serial Omega Speedmaster was the only one to pass that test and received the label „flight qualified by NASA for all manned space missions“.

Meanwhile, 20 years have passed, in which the omega Speedmaster accompanied astronauts in space over 45 times, including 6 trips to the moon.

Almost everything that has been designed for the use in space back then, already seems outdated by todays standards. The Omega Speedmaster, though, can be considered one of the few items that remained unchanged over the years and it is still being used in its original design and make for the 1980’s space-programme. With the same reliable precision like 20 years ago and with the same technique that simply can’t be improved.

Because when NASA was looking again for a watch suitable for the use in space, all the chronometers of the leading brands underwent yet another neutral test-run – even harder than the first one.

And again: the Omega was the only watch that could qualify.

Omega took this commemorative date – 20 Years of combined effort with NASA – as an occasion to produce a limited edition.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional, exclusively made with a case lid made from synthetic sapphire, giving view to the fascinating action inside the chronometer. The case-floor is engraved, reading :“Speedmaster – first watchworn on the moon“ – a precious memory of the past and a challenge for the future.

A little crude maybe, but hey, I haven't had breakfast yet
