Daytona: the watch no one can get and everybody has.
I don't like Chronos plus I won't ever pay more then the MSRP for any product plus I dont like polishes bezels that equals: No Daytona for me.

Hi guys,
I was also thinking about buying the Daytona. My reasons why I decided
against were the following:
1) I am not willing to wait a couple of years and support the intended
marketing strategy of Rolex.
2) The watch lacks the two most important features I expect from a
chronograph: date and 2nd timezone. Actually, I do not need the
timer feature at all. On the other hand, I need the date and timezone
frequently in business and as a frequent traveller.
3) For the same price I get better chronographs fullfilling my
requirements. 6k-8k EUR are definitely to much for this watch.
I won't buy it just because it is a Rolex

I won't buy it just because it is a Rolex
for the problem with the 2nd timezone....put one at the right and one rolex at the left arm
or the cheap version: use the gmt

Everyone can buy a Daytona, look f.e. at www.ebay.de, search for Daytona an buy it.
But talking is cheaper than buying.

Rumlabern kann jeder, kaufen halt nur ein paar, was hauptsächlich am Preis liegt. Wer kaufen kann, bekommt auch eine.
Besser so?

Sorry, falsch verstanden

Hi Folks,
Nice to hear your opinions - it seems that it's very hard to come to an understanding of why spending tremendous amounts on this watch.
Besides making money I can't find reasons to buy this watch. I don't want to spend a penny more than list price for such a watch. Why? I don't like it - and I definately don't like the strategy of Rolex. To me Rolex "works" in two areas:
Sport and Adventure: Sub, GMT, Sea-dweller, Explorer.
Business: Day-date, Datejust, Date ...
Daytona = ??
No, I agree on some of the points of view. It's completely overvalued and as time went on everyone has it. it's not even special anymore
Regards,
Claus

Sorry, but I don´t see hysterics!!
There is a Rolex Chronograph and more people want to own it as Rolex can or will produce. So they pay more than the listed price because they don´t want to wait several years. That´s all!
The watch itself is a very good chronograph, stable in it´s worth, has a high image and many people want to own it, so there are also many reasons to own it too.
So we shouldn´t name an mormal watchmarket process hysteric. IMHO.
Regards,
Rainhard
