Besser als "we should" wäre "we ought to", weil das so ein wenig die moralische Verpflichtung impliziert. Deswegen auch besser "revert" anstelle von "reflect", weil revert to die geistige Rückbesinnung ausdrückt.

Ich würde daher schreiben "If we can't see the forest for the trees anymore, we ought to revert to the essentials"
