Great review! :gut:
And besides the larger case lugs an overall improved version of the "old" Submariner.
Kind regards
Volker

I can not find anything new with this review!
Nicely written, but not meat.

Nice review. Thanks.

Just as a note: To the best of my knowledge, the reason for Rolex to change the caliber 3185 to 3186 is not only the PB balance spring, but also a new implementation of the solution for adjusting the hour hand.

Similarly there are new caliber numbers for the DJ2, DD2 based on a larger diameter on the date disc. The new Explorer 214270 has a larger diameter base plate, which is also the reason for a new caliber number.

So, changed function, implementation or dimension implies new numbers.

Best,

A

I'm well aware, and this is something I talk about in other articles. In my mind, the PB balance spring is a very significant change (more so than hour hand fix) and warrants and new caliber number.

Nice report John. I don't know how it is in the States, but here in Holland the new Black sub is not that hot. On the other hand the 116610 LV aka Hulk is amazingly popular.

I'm not seeing as many people jump on the 116610 bandwagon as I did when the GMT IIc came out - I'm not sure how much the economy is to blame however.
