Dear Rolex-Fans,
during holidays in the Bernese Alps (Switzerland) in September I also made a visit to my preferred AD in Interlaken and left him with an addition to my collection. Following I would like to introduce my new Milgauss (serial V 035xxx) a bit more in detail:
As you can see, I decided to buy the black and more conservative version of the Milgauss. The white one was not really my taste, as due to my opinion the black surroundings of the indices would also require black hands, as we already know from the white Explorer II 16570 and from some white-dialed Datejusts of the 80ies. In addition the colour combination of the white and especially of the “green” Milgauss are very flashy and progressive. The black Milgauss is more discreet and conservative, which I personally like more.
Following the sideview of the watch::
Since the introduction of the Triplock-crown in 1972 the Milgauss 116400 uses for the first time a Twinlock-crown with a diameter of 7 mm again. Interestingly the predecessor Milgauss 1019 used a Twinlock-crown of only 5,3 mm at a watch diameter of 38 mm.
Following the backside with closed and opened clasp:
The clasp of the Milgauss Oysterbracelet 72400 ist identical to the Oysterbracelet 7220x of the Datejust. The clasp is equipped with an opening mechanism for allowing a comfortable opening of the clasp. By lifting up the front part of the clasp two small levers fold up on the other side for lifting the upper part of the clasp, which then clicks off from the lower clasp part.

Opening lever folded up::
Even if the clasp looks on the first sight similar to the clasp of the GMT-Master 11671x the function is completely different. As the clasp of the Milgauss is kept closed through the tension between both hinged clasp parts, the clasp of the GMT-Master 11671x uses a much more complicated and spring operated closingmechanism. The following picture shows the clasp of my GMT-Master 116710 for comparison reasons:
(Öffnungshebel=opening lever, Verriegelungshaken…=locking hook in opening lever, Feder…=spring for opening lever, hinteres…= rear hinge part, Drehachse…=rotation axis for rear hinge part)
Of course a picture of the Milgauss-set is a must:
