5513 Comex
Approximately only one third of the original issue model ref. 5513 Rolex COMEX Submariner watches had a matt COMEX logo dial and few have survived, Making the first batch in this configuration, one of the rarest COMEX watches to exist (estimates have been made in the region of 50-60 watches).
1665 Comex
Approximately 300 watches of model reference 1665 with Helium Gas Escape Valve were delivered to COMEX between 1977 through 1982, in 3 separate batches.
The first batch of 100 watches was delivered around 1977. These featured 600m COMEX logo dials and case backs with the same style engraving as the Double Red Sea Dweller.
The second and third batches of 100 watches per batch, were delivered to COMEX in 1980 and 1982 respectively.
The majority of these watches still had the 600m COMEX logo dial, but the style of the case back engravings differs from the first batch.
1680 Comex
The COMEX ref. 1680 is perhaps the rarest of all COMEX sport watches, with approximately only 40-50 examples originally delivered and few have survived in there original configuration.
At the time the 5514 and 1665 models were already in circulation among the COMEX divers. The 1680 lacked a HEV and had an inferior depth rating to only 200m (660ft), therefore as many watches found given to employees and clients as they did to the divers.
16660 Comex
The Rolex COMEX Sea-Dweller model ref. 16660 was delivered in 2 batches of approx. 100 watches each, with 2 different caseback
& dial types.
The first batch featured tritium 'MATT' logo dials and the 2nd batch tritium 'SMALL' logo dials.
Fewer than 50 examples of the MATT logo dial are thought to have survived, due to damage & deterioration of the dial condition and subsequent replacement during service, thus the Triple 6 MATT dial COMEX has become one of the rarest and most sought after variants.
