My first pictures

This is my first 2 pictures after I bought Johns B. Holbrooks book “Macro watch photography for beginners”

I have now worked though the first 5 chapters and have now my own homemade light box

I have still some ducts on my pictures and I have not yet experimented with the poisonings of the hands

So I know I still have to learn more.

Hi Lars,

Really nice photos....you might try using GIMP (or some other photo editor) to select the dial and bring some light on the dial....but that's a minor point as the photos are quite good.

John, do you mean the dodge/burn brush? I had the feeling that the colors look a bit pale afterwards, how do you make the lighter dial "shinier" then?

No - not the dodge/burn brush. Brightness/Contrast or Levels....its all in the book.

Hi John

I have used GIMP to adjust the light by select COLORS, and then
select CURVES and to perform what’s called a “crop”

So I have not yet discovered how to select the dial and bring some light on the dial

Take a look again starting on page 101 - here's where I explain how to use the selection tool, then you can use either the CURVES tool or BRIGHTNESS tool to adjust the dial.
