A guilty subject..
This forums needs more vintage watches.. here is one from 1962..
Almost perfect glossy Gilt dial, exclamation point dial, connected minute tracks, two lines, pointed crowns guards and a relatively obscure reference number.. all the things that makes this watch interesting to me. At least most watch nerds.
But I was disappointed at my scans..After looking at them, the bright white light source that I use completely fails to capture the warmth of the gilt writing.. I will try again with a different source.
Anyway, the 5512 had a relatively long run and like most Rolex they were produced in several configurations.
The early versions such as the one posted here had connected minute tracks, pointed crowns guards and I think are quite collectible..as is the other configuration with four lines and connected minute track.
Later versions, contained gilt dials, meters first and finally the last version was a regular 5513 dial with OCC writing..
Enough chatting.. here are some scans..

5512 - so beautiful
What a beautiful watch. Although i´m a young guy i love vintage Rolex. This particular kind of charm with the plexi and the dial without whitegold markings...
Could someone explain to me what "gilt dial" and "pointed dial" are?
kind regards

RE: 5512 - so beautiful
Gilt dial refers to the printing of the text, it appears yellowish after all these years and gives the watch a very warm patina'd look. Collectors are paying top dollars for gilt print 5512s or 5513s.
Not sure what pointed dial means? Can someone explain it here?
