A Patent Pending Double Red Sea Dweller (Many Scans)

I owned and took care of her for many years and she was a big part of my collection but sometimes, letting go leads you into something better.. and it did give me the opportunity to rearrange my collection...

It was hard decision as it has taken years and the help of friends to complete the package and it was never my intent to sell.

I am sure the new owner is enjoying her..

    Enjoy...

Hi Ed - I'm not as knowledgeable in the vintage area as I'd like, so I have a dumb question. You refer to this as a double red, but the dial has no red writing.

John, Some of the early and very rare mark I dials were written on white paint and red paint over it (like others later) With time, some have faded to a light pink and almost yellow/white.. So they appear pinkish.. So they are double pink..

Here is a service estimate from Rolex for this watch..

and extreme and unnecessary close ups..

One of the nicest I have ever seen.

Love the faded red printing, love the story of the watch even more.

Wow, what a fantastic piece, it must hurt to let it go? For most of us this is a piece we will never see in person...

Happy new year to all fellow Rolex Forumners!

Ed - thanks for the explaination...it's an awesome piece.

Anyone catch James Dowlings DRSD pick up about a month or so ago...I swear that guy can find the most amazing watches....

The story on it was, as I remember, he bought the watch from the son of a guy who's father received the watch as a gift. He tried it on once, didn't like it, and put it back in the box with all the accessories and such, put it in a drawer and there it stayed until he died.

It was essentially in NOS condition.

Ed you may not know me but i know you

(you maybe know my IP adress because if been on your site for hours and hours )

What should i say. I started my Rolex live with a 16600 Sea Dweller and from the beginning i felt in love with thoose thick cases and the deployment claps which makes them so special.

After a wile i got intersted in a theme called vintage and i wanted to get most of the information i can get.

And there was your site. Oh boy i stayed there al night an read all your posts about thoose gorgeaus watches.
And that was the first time i saw my dreamwatch.

PP DRSD MARK I with everything even a letter from the owner (you see i learnd a lot )

And so i must honestly say that it kills me that you have sold the watch

And so i stay here and don't know what to do Maybe you can tell the new owner that there is an idiot located in Austria how would do allmoust everything for that watch ( maybe it helps )

Best wishes and a heppy new year
