I am not quite sure, but as far as i remember the former Explorer was released by Rolex with a leather strap or oyster bracelet by choice of the customer. (maybe in the 60s ?)

In my opinion the Explorer looks until now GREAT with leather strap.

And: I am not a golf player, but have a feeling that it should wear very well on the green aswell (if not better than the SD)

On the other hand she is a perfect understatement.

From the 50s to 1976 in Germany, in other countries different, e.g. in the US the leather option ended earlyer...
