Hier mal O-Ton von JB himself 2008:

You fellows are great! Think of what we have accomplished:
We have taken a rather insignificant dial and brought it to the forefront! I love the fact that is it for a non sport model. This is an affordable watch which is super cool, IMO!!!
A true "buckley dial" MUST be:
painted black, champagne or white roman markers on white, champagne, black, blue or the very rare grey background. Black or white "buckley hands" will make the look co0mplete.
These dials were available on non quickset models from the mid 1970's and continued on to the early quickset models of the 1980's. These were the very first "exotic" datejust dials and laid the groundwork for the later:
    applied small roman dial
    applied big roman dial
    pyramid big roman dial
first generation jubilee dial, also known as the potato chip dial!
I began this as a joke to bring attention to these dials which were always one of my favorites, but never very popular. Now that it has taken on a life of it's own I am really proud to call them "buckley dials" It is an true honor to have my friends use this term.
I happen to love these dials and see them as an affordable option to the nutty prices on sport models. Remember, these dials were also made for non quickset Presidents, early Oysterquartz and ladies models!!!

    Und ergänzend:

During the John Mayer episode Eric Ku called the fake 3 CROC a "Mayer" dial, complete with photoshop scan. Hilarious! I responded by naming a real dial, the 3 CRCO after Kamal, of BJSOnline. Later Ed Delgado wanted to name a COMEX dial after Marcello "Pisani". Tomvox then showed us his Mel "Torme" tudor Advisor. I found the Julio Eglesas ladies datejust, sooooooooo...
I thought it would be funny if I picked a very unpopular dial and named it after myself, John "Buckley".
There starts the legend of the "buckley" dial! I happen to love the dial and would have my good name associated with no other! lol!
It's just some fun among friends that has taken on a life of it's own. Nothing more.
