Hatte eine wunderbare Fahrt den Highway 1 von Santa Barbara hoch nach Carmel, über Big Sur.
Dieser Teil der gilt als der schönste Teil des Highway 1. Letzten Sommer habe ich es von SF leider nur bis Big Sur runter geschafft, von daher war es für mich Neuland, und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Bin aber nach der Tour und ein bissle rumgelaufe in Carmel müde, von daher passt es perfekt hier mal wieder ein Update zu geben.
Und damit dieses mal,

Wir waren letzten Sonntag stehengeblieben.
Es war mal wieder Kaiserwetter in SF.
Da aber, wie ja geschrieben, die letzte runde Masters Anstand, war für mich klar, das der weg nur Richtung Sports Bar führen kann.
Aber zumindest auf dem weg konnte ich das Wetter genießen.

Überhaupt kommt das immer öfter auf den Tisch, vor allem mittags. Nicht so langweilig wie Salat, und wenn man sich mit dem Brot zurück hält und die Pommes liegenlässt ist das auch alles halbwegs gesund... ;)
So gab es das Anfang der Woche auch direkt wieder. Gab einiges mit einer Kollegin zu besprechen, daher sind wir mittags mal ausgiebiger als üblich essen gegangen. Und sie war nur Montag und Dienstag im Büro, danach stand LA an.

Das führt mich dann zu LA. Eigentlich war eine eher ruhige Woche geplant, da fast alle für mich relevanten Leute nach LA auf eine Marketing Conference wollten. Wettervorhersage war Super, ich habe mich daher schön auf Mittwoch bis Freitag Home Office eingestellt, mit ausgiebiger Zeit draußen.
Aber Pustekuchen! Am Dienstag hieß es plötzlich ich sollte spontan auch mit, da für mich interessant...*
Ehrlicher weise war ich alles andere als begeistert! :motz:
Zum einen kann ich LA nicht viel abgewinnen, und solche Konferenzen sind meistens ziemlich langweilig.
Aber gut, wer gut bezahlt wird muss sich manchmal fügen... :ka:
Ergo habe ich aus der Not eine Tugend gemacht und mich ab Dienstsg Mittag rangesetzt diese Tour dann wenigstens nett zu beenden. Erste Planung war ein Wochenende in San Diego im Hotel Del Coronado. Das war aber leider ausgebucht. Kein guter Start für die Planung. Aber man darf nur nicht aufgeben.
Der Wetterbericht war auch für Süd und Zentral Kalifornien Super. Also warum nicht ein Cabrio Mieten, rauf nach Santa Barbara, am Tag danach weiter nach Carmel. Wollte eh den südlichen Teil des yhighway 1 mal kennenlernen.
Die Hotelsuche war nicht einfach, viel gebucht, oder nur verfügbar, wenn man das We komplett Bucht. Aber Schluss endlich bin ich fündig geworden, das Cabrio war bestätigt, und damit konnte ich mich mit LA versöhnen... :jump:
Mittwoch ging es dann relativ früh zum Flughafen, und bei Bier und Mongolian Beef ging die reise eher gemütlich los... :gut:

Meine Kollegen waren im Marriott untergebracht. Kurzfristig waren die Preise aber unverschämt, von daher häbe ich das Luxe City Center nebenan gebucht. Und ehrlich gesagt war es eh schöner, da eher ein Design Hotel...

Aber egal, wenigstens geht es dann abends auf Firmen Kosten essen. Dieses mal ins Roy's, da einer der Mitgereisten so heißt.
Habe mir bei der Reservierung erlaubt zu sagen er hätte Geburtstag. Mal sehen ob die sich dann was einfallen lassen... :)
Weiterer Grund für die Auswahl war die Lage, nur zwei Blocks zulaufen.

Habe ein Basic Convertible geordert, und ein Chrysler 200 bekommen. Nix tolles, aber fährt sich gut, und offen den Highway 1 lang, das muss man erstmal Toppen... :gut:

Was soll ich sagen, ein wunderbares Städtchen, hat viel von Carmel meets Santa Cruz. Die Häuser wie in Carmel, dazu aber viele junge Leute, viele Surfer, sehr cool... :gut:

Da mich diese Woche meine Firma irgendwie nervt mit dummen internen Querelen, und ich daher keine wirkliche Lust zu arbeiten habe, nutze ich die Zeit produktivieren den zweiten Teil meines Wochenend-Trips zu verarbeiten.

Wir waren stehengeblieben an Tag 2 meines Roadtrips zurueck nach San Francisco. Die Nacht in Santa Barbara war grossartig, hier werde ich nicht zum letzten Mal gewesen sein. Jedoch lag vor mir ein langer Weg, naechster geplanter Halt war Nephente in Big Sur zum Lunch. Vor mir lagen gute 3-4 Stunden Fahrt auf einer der schoensten Strecken dieser Welt! :gut:
Ergo ging es frueh los. Die Hausdame war gerade erst dabei im Nachtgewand das Fruehstueck vorzubereiten. Aber hungrig war ich eh nicht, daher nur schnell ein Kaffee, und auf ging es gen Big Sur. :)

Nach einige Minuten war ich wieder alleine auf weiter Flur. Die Leute scheinen hier eher ruhig in den Tag zu starten, aber mir war das nur Recht. Es gibt kaum etwas entspannteres, zumindest fuer mich, als alleine entspannt Auto zu fahren. Man kann seinen Gedanken freien Lauf lassen, ueber sich und das Leben nachdenken. Dazu gute Musik und diese Landschaft, einfach traumhaft.

Man musste einfach immer mal wieder anhalten, die Stille geniessen, in die Ferne schauen. Und ich muss sagen, ich habe mein Chrysler Cabrio mittlerweile wirklich lieb gewonnen. Wenn man mal wieder ein paar Tage Auto faehrt, merkt man doch das man ein eigenes Auto vermisst. Hat doch irgendwie was von Freiheit und Flexibilitaet.

Die Tour verging wie im Fluge, und schon war ich in Carmel angekommen. Und wieder war ich in einem kleinen Cottage untergebracht. Wobei in Carmel alle Hotels ja in etwa gleich sind, klein, romantisch, familiaer… :gut:

So folks,
Seit knapp 10 Stunden arbeite ich heute ohne grosse Pause (was natuerlich nicht heist das ich nicht per Radio bei der CL dabei war, was ein spannendes Spiel). Da ich aber in zwei Stunden noch einen Termin mit meinem Vorgesetzten habe bzgl meiner MBOs, jedoch keine Lust mehr habe was neues heute anzufangen, widme ich mich meinem naechsten Update.

Nun, nach reichlich Reisetaetigkeit ist es in SF in den letzten Tagen deutlich ruhiger gewesen. Ist aber auch mal ganz ok so. Reisen ist doch auch stressig, und von den Kosten brauchen wir gar nicht zu reden. Man gibt doch immer mehr aus, wenn man unterwegs ist. Weiss auch nicht wieso. Da hilft auch nicht, dass man manchen auf Firma schreiben kann, wenn man Business und Leisure clever verbindet. Aber gut, wer auf Reisen spart, bekommt auch nicht das Max an Spass aus einem Trip raus. :gut:
Zumindest die Woche startete kulinarisch besser als erwartet. Da eine Kollegin jemanden zum reden brauchte ging es nicht zum Deli um die Ecke, sondern auf die Terasse eine der besseren Restaurants hier in der Gegend meines Office. Dort gibt es nicht nur gutes Weihenstephaner, sondern auch vorzuegliche Prime Rib Sandwiches... :ea:

Am Ende des Tages ist mir etwas passiert was ich mir nicht haette vorstellen koennen. Das Cabriodach war zu, das Wetter aber grossartig. Ergo wollte ich meine Ray Ban aus meiner Tasche, die auf dem Beifahrersitz lag, holen. Gesagt getan, Tuer wieder zugeschlagen, um auf der anderen Seite einzusteigen. Jedoch lag der Schluessel im Auto auf dem Beifahrersitz, und das Auto war zu! :kriese:
Man man man, wie dumm kann man sein! Aber half alles nix. Alamo war dagegen sehr entspannt, innerhalb von 20 Minuten kam ein netter Herr, der den Wagen in kuerzester Zeit aufmachte. Von nun an lasse ich wirklich keine Wertsachen mehr in Autos, das ging einfach zu leicht... ;)
Anyways, fuer entpannte 60$ Gebuehr konnte es dann doch zeitig losgehn Richtung Stadt.
Danach ueberkam mich ein wenig Wehmut. Wenn man einige Tage mal wieder einen Wagen „sein Eigen“ nannte, merkt man erst, was man dann doch vermisst. Aber ein letzter Weg ueber die Bay Bridge brachte mir zumindest eine letzte schoene Fahrt, bevor ich den guten Chrysler wieder abgegeben habe.

Highlight war definitiv das Asiatische Restaurants, das eine Freundin ich besucht haben. Zwar relativ teuer, aber sowohl der Jicama Salat, als auch die Ribs und das Haehnchen waren vorzueglich. Scallops sind dagegen nicht so meins...
Da das Wetter wie immer gut war, ging es zeitig aus dem Buero, um zu Fuss hinzulaufen.

Das Wochenende startete also schon ungesund. Da ich mit einigen Freunden auch am Sonntag zum Brunchen verabredet war, sollte es zumindest vorher ein bissle ans laufen gehen, ein bisschen Bewegung schadet ja nicht. Ausserdem war Port Anniversary, wollte also mal sehen, was der Hafen zu bieten hat.
Aus sportlichen Gruenden ging es den Berg zum Fairmont hoch, bevor ich weiter Richtung Wasser wollte. Dort stand in einer Garage ein wunderbarer Mercedes.

Sehr cool, gibt also auch eine US Version der Mille Miglia. Leider war ich ein bissle vor, waren noch nicht allzu viele Autos da. Aber die, die da waren, waren wunderbar. Ausserdem kann man ja spaeter nochmal zurueckkommen, und die restlichen zu bestaunen.

Der direkte Weg zum Brunch Spot war weiter am Wasser lang. Da ich aber ja ein bissle Bewegung haben wollte, ging es Richtung Coit Tower. Wer meinem Thread aus dem letzten Jahr verfolgt hat kennt diesen Weg noch. „einige“ Stufen nach oben den Berg rauf...
Und solche Aussichten kann man erwerben, wenn das Kleingeld da ist... ;)
