Referenz 7016

Sehr geehrte Mitglieder des r-l-x Forum,

ich moechte mich zunaechst vorstellen: Ich bin der Stephan aus Muenchen.

Ich bin seit kurzem r-l-x Mitglied, habe aber schon sehr haeufig wichtige Informationen im r-l-x Forum gefunden.

Heute haette ich jedoch eine Frage, wo ich selber nicht mehr weiter weiss und wo ich nicht sicher bin:

Mir wurde kuerzlich eine Tudor Submariner mit der Referenz 7016 angeboten. In meiner Tudor Liste finde ich nur die Nr. 7016/0 aber in meiner Fachliteratur wie auch in meiner Rolex Referenzliste ist die Referenz 7016 angegeben.

Wisst Ihr vielleicht, wie dieser Widerspruch zu erklaeren ist? :grb:

Sorry for responding in English: I have little time today, and I am too lazy to write in German and then correct all my mistakes.

Here is the explanation: between the late 60's and the 70's, Rolex used to put "/number" to indicate the material used for the watch.

/0 was for stainless steel

/3 was for two tone steel + gold

/8 was for gold

For instance, you also find the 5513 with the number 5513/0

They stopped this at some stage during the late 70's.

For instance, you find the next generation after the 7016/0 first as 9401/0, and then 94010.

For the 7016/0, I have personally never seen it only as 7016, always as 7016/0. Which is consistent as this watch was produced from 1968 until 1974 - 1975. I think that people, and even Rolex / Tudor sometimes just omit to mention the "/0" even when it's the number engraved on the case.
