Hi everybody,
I just saw this 5513 on the bay, and its dial looks really weird, doesnt it? Is that an original dial? What do the experts here think?

Nice weekend to everyone.
yes these type of dials exsist. So called Explorer dial.
One of the most faked dials in the Rolexworld :D
And in the current auction the dial is a custom made one.
So custommade means it is not Rolex made? I have heard of the explorer dials for subs, I think the original ones fetch quite a buck at big auctions. But this one just did not look right to me...
Well, as written in auction text:
"This is a custom dial made for this watch."
So the dial is not original.
"Arabic dial 5513s are one of the rarest dial versions and can be found in a 5513. If found the Arabic dial 5513 Submariners fetch a high premium over $30,000 USD. This Arabic dial is 100% accurate and costs you considerably less!"
He hopes on the non-accurate reader spending money with a fast click.
"The original dial plate from this watch is still available. However, the original dial was refinished miserably years ago."
Luckyly he conserved the bad old dial.
So it may be a buy - at half the price ;)
Bye

Its a "custom" made dial.. the term is obviously a little misleading but at least he is honest about it..
but yes, "custom" could means refinished or aftermarket
