Druckbare Version
I recently acquired a super mint 5100 yellow gold Megaquartz No: 57 with a bracelet supposedly only made for the first 100 watches or so. It is as nice as te day it left the factory.
Does anyone hold information about the differences between the "regular" production and the first 100 pieces?
Does anyone know which kind of boxes/papers the 5100's came with?

Das Beta21 ist das Basiskaliber, welches in den späten 1960er Jahren lanciert wurde. Es war eine Gemeinschaftsentwicklung der CEH und kam nicht nur bei Rolex mit der Ref.5100 zum Einsatz. Auch Omega (Kal. 1300, Kal. 1301...) IWC (Kal. 2001) AP, Piaget, Bucherer und einige andere verwendeten das Beta21. Es gilt als das erste Serienquarzwerk.Zitat:

Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere wurden 1000 Quartz Date produziert, davon 250 in WG. Der Zustand der Uhr ist genau zu überprüfen, da Ersatzteile nicht (oder sehr schwer) zu bekommen sind. Besonders das Werk ist empfindlich und wurde oft "verbastelt" (gilt zumindest bei anderen Herstellern). Wie ich kürzlich von einem Uhrmacher, der sich schwerpunktmäßig mit frühen elektronischen Uhren (Beta, Stimmgabel usw.) beschäftigt, gehört habe, ist auch die Möglichkeit solche Werke zu reparieren sehr eingeschränkt.
Das die ersten 100 Stk. anders ausgeliefert wurden, habe ich noch nie gehört. Mal sehen, ob jemand Licht ins Dunkel bringen kann.
Vom Zubehör habe ich kein Bild gefunden. Aber irgendjemand in Forum soll ja eine Quartz Date besitzen. Vielleicht kann er uns helfen... ;)
Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wie die Uhr von Rasmus aussieht!
Warum sind diese Uhren so schwer zu reparieren?

Bitte nicht wegen der laienhaften Ausdrucksweise auslachen. :oops:
Erstens gibt es, wie bereits gesagt, schwer Ersatzteile.
Bei z.B. Stimmgabelwerken gibt es noch oft Werke auf Börsen, die man ausschlachten kann. Ein Beta21 zu finden ist schwer.
Das Hauptproblem ist aber, dass der Quarz nur an einer kleinen "Verbindung" schwingt. Wenn es dort zum Defekt kommt, hat man ein Problem...
Außerdem macht das Datum, wie schon oft diskutiert, Probleme.

Bin mal auf die Fotos des Threaderöffners gespannt.
Here are some pictures. As I haven't had time, they are not very good and definetely does not do the watch justice. It is SOOOO beautiful and sharp all over. There is no strech to the bracelet and I doubt it has ever been polished? It is like NEW but very difficult to photograph. I need an expert like Istvan to correct for the obviously tough angles :-)

Die 5100 hatte keine signierte Krone?
Was mir auch gerade mal aufgefallen ist, ist dass das Band zum Anstoß hin hohl ist. Auch die Schließe finde ich ungewöhnlich, ich habe bis jetzt nur die mit aufgesetztem Krönchen gesehen.

Hi Marc,
It is very comfortable to wear (I have had it on for 1 hour only). One can't feel the curves of the bracelet at all. At the moment I haven't had it fitted for wear and I doubt I will due to the "virginity" of case and bracelet. Istvan asked if it was for sale. The answer is yes. In a short while it will be. I still need to do some more research.
