I start with my cyclop remover kit.

I think it can still be polished, but you have to be careful. Start off by levelling the uneven parts using this special crystal grader ...

... and then work your way from 50 grain to 150 grain sand paper. The crystal may turn out to be somewhat "milky" but that can be tolerated; just think how much a replacement would be. ;)
