Question on 6650

I was in Paris a few months ago for a GTG and had with me a 6650 Explorer. It was the first Explorer with Mercedes hands. Those at the gathering were mainly European...mainly French. While everyone liked the watch, it was described as "one for the American and British audience". The 6610 was seen as a much more original and interesting Explorer. I am curious how those on this forum view it? Is the 6650 rather an awkward and unloved Explorer? Is it the Ugly Sister to the 6610?
