Archiv verlassen und diese Seite im Standarddesign anzeigen : A collection or just 1 or 2 ''specials'' ?
Inspired by a well respected member of the Dutch Rolex Forum I would like to start this thread.
By now I have collected 5 Rolex watches and needless to say that I am more than happy with them.

But every time I open my watchbox I get this restless feeling inside...what watch do I wear today?
In the morning I pick one for wearing that day and right after I close the vault I start thinking that maybe that other one should get some wrist instead...
And then the vault opens again.. :ka: :ka: :ka:
So here the question for you all.. :dr:
Do you want/need to switch watches once or twice a day or do you want that big grail we are all after?
A Panda Daytona or a DDSD.. :ea: :verneig: :gut:
What are your thoughts on this one?

Do you mean DRSD (Double Red Sea-Dweller)?
Good combination, with a Panda Daytona. One with white Dial, on with black. All you need.
By the way: Nice collection, Gerard!

A question only you can answer...nothing wrong in switching the watch a few times a day as well as wearing the same for a couple of days.

Gerard- nice collection!
I know EXACTLTY where you are coming from- I've got 12 in my collection and sometimes change three times a day :ka: !
I sometimes feel that rather than having more, I should indeed go for 'less' and finally take the plunge, sell a load and get 'the one' I really want. :grb:
Problem is:
a) Every time I part with a watch I miss it like crazy and always regret it, even though I know it is a means to the next step.
b) If I did buy a watch with four zeros in the price, I would probably be too scared to wear it
Kind of defeats the object huh?
I guess the ladder is there to be climbed though, so to hell with it- sell 'em all and get the DRSD...... :gut:
Then tell me if it was the right decision :supercool:
cheers,
Nick

You will always want what you don't have. It's a human imperative :ka:
Hi Gerard,
Trading those watches for a holy grail will make you want them back as soon as you have that holy grail on your wrist. I though long and hard about trading a few of my own pieces for a Patek Philippe Nautilus, but I rather keep my current collection and start saving for that special one. I know that when I have that Nautilus, I want my Sea-Dweller, Speedmaster or whatever watch back from my current collection.
Good luck!

I too have thought about the same thing GJ - and I sort of envy those people that have just one watch that's with them through thick and thin....
But I couldn't part with any of my herd.
difficult question...
could you live selling your whole collection of 5 and get one grail instead (bear in mind that to get a Panda you have to add cash on top of your watches too...)
If yes, go for it :gut:
Or maybe you keep 1 or 2 of your collection (your first Rolex i.e.) and trade the rest...
Here is mine, I hope it helps in your decision process :D.

Not sure, probably changing once or twice a day, has got some charm...

- The best way would be THE ONE watch, no matter if "the grail" or not, just one watch you wear every time so at judgement day it will be able to tell your story.
- Worst case: two watches. You will only wear one of them - the better one, the more comfortable one, the more worthy one.
- So, you'll step up to three watches: same feelings that you had with two, so you switch up to
- four: Now you'll begin to switch and change, there is a lot of variety, different watches for different purposes. Perfect. But know you licked blood, so
- numbers five to six, seven, nine, eleven, fourteen will follow.
- Then someday you'll notice, there are some watches, even if you do like them, that get no attention. So you start thinking about "decreasing", having less watches, but therefor maybe more worthy ones, grails, heavier materials...
It won't get any cheaper, but it will be less watches. Better? Well, maybe.
My advice: Buy one or sell all others down to one AND NEVER COME BACK HERE!
Goodbye,
Kurt
