German Rolex Fans - I've just completed my review for a fantastic new app for the iPhone/iTouch based on the Mondani Press book, 100 Years of Rolex. Click here to read my review on WATCH TALK FORUMS (http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/showthread.php?p=296341#post296341), and as always, reply here to this message with any comments or questions.

Since I have installed the Mondani app on my iTouch 1st gen, I actually used it very frequently. This is my review
Positive
- Navigation is beautiful and very intuitive
- There are plenty of pics on almost all of the models (60 pics only on the Datejust (!)
- List view is cool, but I really love the 'single view' to slide thru the years or models .
To change to the 'single view', just tab on the icon on the upper right corner.
- In 'year-mode' there is a very detailed description of the particular model introduced by Rolex in this year. From within the year mode/model there is also a hotspot to branch right into the reference list of this same model
Some (subjective) shadows
Having pricing information on each model is nice, but not what I urgently need to see. I'd rather appreciate to see some quick and brief technical info such as for movements, diameters, etc.
Model structure:
A candidate for redesign, imo. There are simply too many model chapters.
Four different chapters just for Submariners: Submariner Military, Submariner, Submariner Comex, Submariner Date.
Now imagine a 'normal' user, and with normal I mean no one from the RLX forum crazies :D;) . Being in model view, this 'normal' guy will have almost no chance to immediately find, lets say, reference 5512
There are three chapters for Sea Dweller/Deep Sea: Deep Sea Special, Sea Dweller and Sea Dweller Deep Sea. Three chapters on the YM; Yacht Master, Yacht Master II, Yacht Master Rolesium ... tbc
For my taste, there is also too many 'Oyster' and 'Oyster Perpetual' on the model header descriptions. Oyster Perpetual manual winding, Oyster Perpetual, Oyster Perpetual Date, Oyster Perpetual ...
It, of course, is an Oyster Perpetual , but due to the short length of the model header line, the model list looks a bit fuzzy and confusing.
Search function: Very handy, however there are some little issues.
Numeric search: No wildcard support. Search by 162 (test was to find DJs starting with ref. 162*) did not deliver any results. You must enter the exact string in order to find a certain model/reference.
Text Search:. Searching by 'Date' brings not only Date-models, what I'd expect, but also other models which do have 'Date' somewhere on its detail description. At the end you'll get a list with like 200 models.
Maybe the search function can be re-programmed on a future release? Just as an idea, having search options would be cool.
Like, one radio button to select 'search by exact string', another button or checkbox one to search by model header' ...
One thing became clear to me. The Mondani app is not suppose to reflect the Rolex catalogues like 1:1. Its rather a tool intended to be used by the dedicated Rolex fan and collector who is interested in all the ranges of Rolex watches;
starting at ultra vintage up to the contemporary models, just like in the Mondani books
Fairy with the big boobs :D: If she would grant me one special wish, what I'd like to see on a new release/update of the app, I would clearly go for a new chapter called 'Specials', where I could see all the Tiffanys, Panamas, Cartiers, Pizzas, Comex, etc
All together its a very very nice app indeed and worth every cent. Respect, great work from all the people involved in this app project :gut::gut::gut:
I need this app for my BlackBerry ;)

Thank you, John, for the hint.
In the last month I have been looking for a book giving quick and short information about Rolex models.
Good books were rather expensive, cheap books didīnīt fulfill the exceptions I had.
So this App has excellent value for money.
