Usually every October, I make a special trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan to meet my son's new teachers for the school year and establish relationships with them. This year, the chosen weekend was early enough in October that my son and I planned to make a golf weekend out of it - the weather forecast was quite favorable.

Friday morning I made the drive up from Dayton - it was a pleasant drive, but a boring one.

The first stop upon arriving in Grand Rapids was to my son's school. He's in 7th grade this year:

His teachers really spoke highly of him, and he seems to be doing quite well:

After we left his school we headed to our hotel, and spotted this deer in field - I got out and snapped a shot. I think the hunters will be happy this year as we spotted a total of five for the weekend - including three we chased off the tee box on one of the courses we played.

We spent Friday evening having dinner with friends, then it was off to get a good night sleep. We had a nice breakfast at the hotel the next morning, then it was off to the first course we played - Indian Trails:

In was a tad chilly in the morning, but it warmed up quickly and was quite pleasant weather to play in. The leaves were just starting to change color - it was beautiful!

We stopped for a quick bite after a humbling front nine:

The back nine ended up being much better for us - John shot a 59, and I shot a 48.

Sunday morning we went to church, then headed straight for the next golf course - Saskatoon:

We had virtually the same conditions as the day before - just gorgeous!

We came upon three deer at this tee box and they scampered off when we pulled up in the cart:

This may be my favorite photo from Saskatoon:

John really enjoyed our golf weekend:

I had big fun too:

With old man winter knocking on the door, this was the last weekend of golf for John and I for 2008. But 2008 ended up being a GREAT golf year for both of us - I'm sure I played more golf this year than any other in the past, which was great. Next year, we're planning on playing HAWAII!!!!

A parting wrist shot of my favorite golf watch:

as I can see you donīt care about your watch during playing golf.

in other sections of this forum there are many threads about wearing a watch during sport, especially golf...

I've played golf in a Rolex for years....I played in a Sea-Dweller for about 5 years with no ill effect. In fact, the extra weight gave me five extra yards off the tee.

This year I switched to my 16710-3186 - the parachrom bleu hairspring is more shock resistant to its an even better choice for the rigors of golf. :gut:

That's quite an incentive (I need all the help I can get), but I really don't care for the DSSD. =(

This type of weather isn't always the norm for Michigan this time of the year, but we take advantage of it! :gut:
