I made a brief DIY tutorial in installing Hirsch Watchbottoms / Caseback pads. I found that this pad prevented the watch from sliding around as much as it did without having to tighten the bracelet.

The DIY is posted at http://www.minus4plus6.com/casebackpad.htm

Corrections and additions welcomed.

Why? Because of the look*)? Because of the feel? Allergic?

In case you didn't know: wear the watch with the dial to the upside and you won't see the bottom :) :D ;)

Well, I think that the look and feel of any watch caseback will just be a scapegoat.

Anybody who will buy stuff like this caseback pad is just very worried about the watch getting scratches and is too ashamed to confess to this in front of his friends :D

Therefor he makes up a story about the watch sliding on the wrist or whatever :D

A product made for our dear "polish-cloth-pussies" :D

Yes, it is, thatīs why it is used for medical / surgical purposes as well.

Thank Sheldon, thatīs the first time I have heard of that, too... I do wear my watch a bit on the tighter side and it feels good the way it is but that pad looks quite interesting :gut:

After being worn some days, this pad will remember to those old dingy rubber-mats in showers or bathtubs of old Hotels, itīl be a perfect breeding ground for "Schmodder"... ;)

Preventing scratches is one side benefit, but not the primary reason why I applied it to my 116710. The primary reason was to take up a little slack in the bracelet.

Insofar as the amount of gunk it would collect, so far, it appears to be no different than what a leather watch strap would collect... Even if it does get gunky, the pad comes off intact (unlike D series and prior hologram stickers) and they are easy to replace.

How much slack will this pad take up with itīs thickness?

The only use I can see is to make the seller rich.... ;)
