My son and I are quite determined to bring up both our golf games this Summer. The plan is to:

-Go to the driving range once a week
-play 9 holes during the week
-play 9 or 18 on Sunday.

Last night was a GREAT night to play - got some nice photos!

The first hole and my only par:

This city course (The Mound) isn't the longest course you'll ever play, but it has lots of challenging holes and many changes in elevation.

Hole number two requires nerves of steel to stay out of trouble off the tee:

More shots from the course:

The approach:

He's doing much better off the tee this year:

He hit this sand shot like a pro and landed about 10 ft. from the hole:

I was considerably further from the hole, but I couldn't have been happier with the 180 yrd. 3 iron that go me on in three. I try and line up my put:

I two putted for boggie and was more than happy.

The final hole:

The weather was fantastic and both John and I played well for us:

Back to the German golf cart, and we headed home.

I was surprised this post didn't get any replies, given the strong reaction to my night out for dinner and baseball.

I guess Germans don't like golf? :grb: :ka:

I tried it once, but I was not very good at it.

Frieds told me, what I did was more like farming than playing golf ;(

Hi John,

of course there are some golf-addicted forum members :D.

There is actually no better way to punish yourself and celebrate masochism than playing golf...but it is fun.
Where in the US is this course ? From what I can see on the great pics it doesn't look soooo challenging but probably this is a false impression.

Did you play on a weekend ? Not many people were out there so that is really great when you either have no pressure or a japanese four-ball is ahead of you :D.

I must have missed this two weeks ago... very nice pics, thanks! :gut:

... is wonderful!

I tried to play golf once or twice and golf didn´t like me. I´m better at running away from the golf balls ;) I think that it takes some time until you´re good enough to enjoy the game. Until now, I have not taken that time. I might try golf once I quit doing sports ;)

Thanks for sharing-
Nico

I can't comment on the course, other than to say the setting looks stunning and the weather fantastic, which is more than can be said for the British Open at Royal Birkdale (a mile away) which is currently suffering the wettest week we've had this year... definite yuck and much grumbling about rainy British summers..! :motz:

Your're right - this 9 hole course just about 3 miles from my home in Ohio. It has lots of changes in elevation, and some pretty tricky holes, but it's not terribly hard or has a lot of water hazzards, etc. Great course for my son...and for me for that matter. We really enjoy it.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that Mike! Do you play or just enjoy watching the pro events?

it's on my list of things I'd like to try... but I never seem to get away from my day job 'til the moon is out... and I live in a triangle surrounded by some of the top British courses. One day!
