Hi Christian!

Wall Street is one of my favorite movies. "Life boils down to a few defining moments, and this is one of them!"

I am extremely passionate about Rolex and have been for over a quarter century!!!! I have much, much, much more exciting content coming up which could keep you entertained for a long time!

I think it is just amazing I can share this information with you from half way around the earth and we can talk about it in real time.

Just Amazing!!!

Thanks for your kind words,

Jake

A member of the forum just asked me a few questions and I thought I would share my answers with everybody:

They asked me where I was from and they also asked, "How do you manage to create and update a blog every day ? must be a lot of work...eh ??"

Here is my response:

I was born and raised and live in San Francisco, California. U.S.A.

I have been collecting Rolex photos and other content for many years so I have built up a huge library.

I am also a Rolex fanatic and have been for over 25 years so I know a lot about the brand. I only recently discovered there are so many other people who enjoy Rolex history so I decided to start the first Blog dedicated exclusively to Rolex.

I am also a designer and a design fanatic so I do a lot of research on Rolex because I am so inspired by the design and history, and I thought it would be great if I could share it with everybody. Also, having the blog makes it really easy for me to find my own content very quickly since it uses Google's search engine in the upper left hand corner.

So for instance I can just type in "James Bond" and in a split second I have all my Bond related Rolex content.

The blog has been a lot of work, but I love it so it is really a labor of love.

I hope I answered all your questions.

Jake

Hi Robin!

Thank you for sharing your kind words of encouragement! I appreciate it very much and I have worked very hard to get my Rolex Blog set up and polished.

A little more background:

I bought my first Rolex Stainless Submariner over 25 years ago when I was 16. Ever since then I have been fascinated with Rolex design and history.

I realize it might sound strange, but I only realized a few months ago there were so many other people on planet earth who share my passion and enthusiasm for Rolex!!! I used to always type in Watch Blog and Rolex Blog in Google hoping to find something, but I never did, so I finally decided to create what I was looking for.

For the last 25 years I loved talking with people about Rolex and sharing my insight with others. The only challenge is that the opportunities to do so were so far and few between.

I literally felt like I was wandering around out in the dessert, dying of thirst for 25 years and then I suddenly wandered into a lush oasis where everybody is wearing and talking constantly about Rolex. :gut: :gut: :gut:

I don't know what it is that most people have in common that draws them toward Rolex, but we seem to be similar. I think it has to do with an appreciation for things that are timeless and endure. I actually don't think Rolex is so much a watch that tells you the time and date, so much as it is a state of mind.

I feel like some stories must be told and this is one of them. I think if I realized that there was only an audience of one other person on planet earth I would still work as hard as I have been on my Rolex Blog. As I mentioned before it is a true labor of Love!!!

Hi Jake thanx for your replies,

I've been around r-l-x de for just a few months now(I already registered here march 07) because of my new 116710LN.
The only guy I 'knew' at r-l-x.de is John(Holbrook) because of another website more into BMW's (the current 3 series that is). Though my Rolex fanatism only began in 2000 with a 16710 Pepsi, I still own a 16610 Sub and a AP Royal Oak 15300ST.
Waiting on the ordered DeepSea gives me a hard time too.LOL

Keep us posted Jake, I enjoy reading your stuff, we have some things in common obviously.

Cheers,

Robin from the Netherlands(not living in a windmill and not smoking pot! :D)

Hi Robin,

The Deap Sea is going to be very interesting. I hope it lives up to its potential. It appears from the wrist shots I have seen as if it is going to look great. I think the secret for success for Rolex will be to make a 43mm Rolex that will fit well on a normal size wrist as well as on a big guy like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Thanks for sharing your kind words. I look forward to talking with you again!!!

Jake

Hi Marc!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your kind words of encouragement. I appreciated it very much!!!

It is weird because, even though I write the blog and put up everything, I love perusing it myself. I have actually cut down on my other web daily reading because I spend so much time just tripping on all the Rolex watches.

You mentioned that you look forward to contributing and this brings something to mind.

First let me say that I love the R-L-X.de forum. It is funny because I barely understand any of the German so I just click on every thread and check it out!!! Pretty funny.:ea: :ea: :ea:

I want to extend the offer to any of the R-L-X.de member to send in any reviews or anything you want to share. Also, if there is anybody who would like to be a blogger on Jake's Rolex Watch Blog, just send me an email and we can try it out. You can reach me through RolexBlog@gmail.com

Once again, Marc, thank you very much. I look forward to enjoying the Rolex Watch Blog with you.

Warmest regards,

Jake

Hi Everybody!!!

I am so happy to learn that so many members of DAS ROLEX FORUM are enjoying my blog!!!

Posting Hannes great photo of the Black LV Submariner on my Rolex blog jogged my brain and I ended up creating a 5 piece series with many great photos that compare the LV to the standard sub as well as comparing the LV sub to the Roger Moore as James Bond Sub. (I can't remember the model number. If anybody knows it please let me know and I will add it.)

You can see this new Top story with many great photos on my blog:

http://www.RolexWatchBlog.com

I was going to place the image on this forum, but I can't figure out how to. I assume that I can only post images that are from the web and I can't add images into the forum. Is that correct?

Thank you everybody for your gracious and kind words regarding my Rolex Blog.

I also wanted to thank all the members who shared their kind words regarding Jake's Rolex Watch Blog.

Hi Steve!!!

I am having so much fun putting together my Rolex Watch Blog!!!

I realize Rolex will probably never do this but it would be so cool if they made the GMT and Sub so you could easily change the bezel to any color.

I remember 25 years ago, just before I got my first Submariner, I bought this watch named "Flipper" where you could pop the watch out of a red case and bracelet and pop it into a blue one. It was pretty cool.

In some weird way I kind of digg the ALL Cobalt Blue GMT Ceramic Bezel I created on my blog.

Try clicking on the image of the Cobalt GMT Bezel Color Combo to get a bigger view where it is isolated so there is nothing to distract your eye. I think you will see how cool the blue is.

I think it is so cool that we can talk in semi-real time from half way around the earth!!! The internet is really amazing!!!!

Thanks for sharing your kind words!!!

Yeah these pictures are really awesome!
I hope Rolex will remember soon that the GMT-2-Non-C should be a watch with different bezels as the old ones were.
And they should better kick out the "blue sub date" out of their portfolio.

Jake,

I am not Steve, but would like to share my opinion regarding German forummembers who speak English. Generally, all Germans learn a couple years English in school when they are children. So I could imagine that probably 90% or more in this forum would be able to hold a conversation in English, but I may be too optimistic? Looking forward to hear other opinions...

Thanks for your reply. Wow!!! That is fascinating that 90% speak English. I don't speak much German but I can get around pretty well in the forum. Actually, I think I am learning some German just from trying to navigate around.

Thanks.

Yes, i agree to the opinion of Boris. But there is nevertheless a different in understanding and speaking English. But you can't compare the 90% of Forum members with the general population of Germany. I suppose there is an average of less than 30% of the Germans who are able to hold conversation in English.

Hi everybody!

I was at a San Francisco AD yesterday and I tried on a bunch of Rolex watches.

I tried on the White Gold Yachtmaster II and I thought is was too big and really, really heavy. Maybe you would get used to the size over time, but it seemed kind of strange in a Pee Wee Herman oversized-big-spoon kind of way.

I also tried on the GMT II Ceramic with the Supercase and it seemed to be the perfect size.

The Yachtmaster II had some really beautiful design details, like the push timer buttons and the shape of the case.

Hi Everybody,

As many of you may know, Swiss Rolex Explorer, Jacques Piccard recently passed away.

Jacques Piccard was involved in Deep Sea testing of the Rolex DEEP SEA SPECIAL from 1950 to 1960. He is one of the greatest explorers that ever lived and I just finished writing a super-detailed article about him and his family.

Hi Jake
let me take the opportunity to also thank you for your excellent blog. I really enjoyed reading most of the articles and some of them are nearly “scientific”.

Regarding your article about Dr. Martin Luther King, please find following the missing link between Dr. King and the president elected Obama:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/MatthiasRBO/JesseJacksonTridor-3.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/MatthiasRBO/JesseJacksonTridor-1.jpg

Jesse Jackson is wearing his Rolex Day-Date Tridor since many years. Even when there was some “misunderstanding” in Summer (you may remember the open microphone…) between Obama and Jackson, Jackson feeled not ashamed of his tears, when Obama became president elected.

Until now Obama does not wear a Rolex, but I think it does not last long until an official from Rolex Geneva will present a Rolex to Obama……

Best Regards
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Thanks for your kind words.

I agree that my approach is scientific and that is by design. Science, by definition being the pursuit of truth. One of my primary objectives with the blog is to once and for all, separate all the fact from the fiction.

It never ceases to amaze me with Rolex how many perpetuated and untrue myths have become reality.

Thank you for sharing the Jessie Jackson pics with me. I already ran them in a story about Jackson back in June of 2008. Here is the link:

Hi Everybody!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your very kind words!!!

I have been wearing Rolex watches for over a quarter century and I always sensed there was a deeply profound history to Rolex that nobody had ever really explored.

Whenever I find a great new piece of the Rolex history puzzle, I feel a certain thrill that I believe my readers feel when they first discover the same piece of history. It is difficult for me to put into words what this feeling of discovery means, but Bernhard nailed it when he said "what you show.... is what Rolex is about to me!!!!" I know what you mean Bernhard!!!

I think it is great that we are all having fun and enjoying the profound Rolex history together.

Warmest regards.

I hope you are all having a great holiday season.

I just put up part 1 of a 9 part podcast interview with T. Walker Lloyd who was an executive with Rolex for almost a quarter century.

T. Walker began his career with Rolex as an oceanographic consultant and helped to develop the Rolex SEA-DWELLER with SEALAB and went on to become a senior executive.

This is an amazing story and the first and only time I know of when a former Rolex executive went on the record in a detailed recorded interview.

In part 1, T. Walker Lloyd covers everything from Kojak to Thunderball to Jaws.

I am certain you will enjoy this amazing podcast and article which you can find here:

Hi Everybody,

I just wanted to let you know I am currently working on one of the most fascinating Rolex history stories on Jake's Rolex World.

I am working on the story of William "Peter" Knight who was a U.S. Air Force Test Pilot who set the all-time speed record for level winged flight at Mach 6.7, and of course he was wearing his trusted Pepsi Rolex GMT Master which you can also see exclusive photos of in this story.

I hope you enjoy this amazing story which you can find at:

Hi Everybody!!!

I just finished writing my review of the most amazing Rolex book I have ever seen in my life, and it is called The Ultimate Rolex Daytona by Pucci Papaleo Editore.

Not only is this the most beautiful Rolex book I have ever seen in my life, but it is also the most beautiful book I have ever seen in my life.

Here is a direct link to the story:

Hi Everybody!

I just posted a super detailed story named “Inside Rolex: Exploring What Makes Rolex Tick”, on Jake’s Rolex World.

Back in November of 2013, I had the unprecedented opportunity to tour all four of Rolex’s manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, and as a result, I wrote this super detailed story which chronicled much of what I observed.

I hope you enjoy this fascinating Rolex story:

Cheers!!!
