Hello friends, I am not often in this english area of the forum but I try to improve my english.

Perhaps some of you know my interests in Rolex and my second "hobby" ;) the lESPERANCE Kinderhilfe, means to help orphans form war and aids in Afrika.

I do have an old Date-Just Ref. 6605 with silver dial, bought from "Chronothek" Austria in April 2007. Watch from 1958 in stunning condition. Look at pictures

Both original glases with magnifier and without. I do like this version without magnifier very much because the date is framed with white gold and this is much better to see this way.

I have got a bill from Chronothek in Austria about 2200 Euros ( watch without box).

What do you think is maximum possible to get for this watch, perhaps on ebay or SC. I don´t want to make any risk so best idea is direct-buy or steady price in SC.

The idea is to finance the following projects:

1st: Complete garbage system for the whole orphan-village in Uganda in Africa, very important for hygiene for those children, cost round about 400 Euros.

2nd: one man , a gardener, who should care about that garbage system the whole year ( his salary will be about 20 Euro a month ;( , he works, sleeps and eat in the village and earns 12 Euros sofar for doing the work in gardens. Now we want to high his salary up to perhaps 20 Euros. So my idea is to save his job for more than 5 years,
makes 1200 Euros.

3rd: an african orphan needs one euro per day, the rest of the money from that watch should give an orphan a new home in village as long as possible. Perhaps 4 years, that is 1460 Euros

all together that would be 3060 Euros , do you think that is possible!!!

So now I want to know from you, how much money the watch perhaps can be sold for that idea.

with friendly regards

Dirk

Hello Dirk,
I guess if I understand you right, you would like to sell this watch for as much as possible to finance 3060 Euros for your Charity project in Africa? Do you want to get that much for this watch? Here in the US, I doubt that you could get 4500 dollars for this watch. You probably would have better luck in Europe. I don't know if it would be feasible to have kind of like a lottery (is it legal?) where you ask people to pay towards a lottery and one person will win? That way you may be able to get 3060 Euros together? Just an idea...

Maybe several R-L-X members would pull together to come up with 4500 dollars here and donate the money to your charity?

If we get 45 people to donate 100 dollars, then we'd be good to go... The biggest donor would get the watch...

Hello redsubmariner :]
I had that idea here before, but it is not legal in forum.
But legal in Germany is that, what is down linked in my signature.

It is a open lottery (in German called "Gewinnspiel") . There we try to get a lot of money with auction of 3 Rolex and one Tudor watches, it still runs 4 weeks, so far we got round about 5500 Euros, not tooooo much I guess but we hope to get more next 4 weeks.

Perhaps my ideas are not that good as I hoped :grb:, but we will see :ka:

Thanks for your post, thanks Bernhard, too!

with kind regards
Dirk

Hello Dirk,
I think your initiative is a good idea. Your website for the open lottery (Gewinnspiel) will be more useful, if the numbers and texts are copiable, so online-banking can be done easier. The apostrophe in l'ESPERANCE is also not accepted.
Additional the website should have an english translation, if you want to reach people outside of Germany.
Kind regards
Volker

@Hannibal: Volker, I do agree absolutly with most points of your objection, we are still learning, I had the idea that those publication in german Watch magacine "Chronos" would do the most work, but now I have to say it is really disappointing that 90% of the money that was given is from RLX-Forum, neighbours, friends and so on. From "outside" allmost nothing sofar.

The result now is not that bad, but I hreally hoped much more :(

Ok, at the end of the event we will see, what we do next. :ka:

Hello Dirk,
if someone looks at your advertisement, he does not really know for what purpose the money is spend. One has to click the link to see the goal and the conditions. This is perhaps an explanation.
Kind regards
Volker

Hi Dirk,

I am actually German, but since we are in the English forum, I will speak English. I checked your homepage for the donations. For someone who lives outside of Germany, it will be difficult to make a bank wire, because the wire will probably cost like 50 Dollars to Germany. Not worth it, the bank will make more money than the children if you know what I mean. Do you have a Paypal account setup? Any other ways of receiving funds from abroad?

I think your idea is great. There are so many children in the world who are disadvantaged. There is nothing better than helping these children, as they are out future.

Well, I am sure you are going through a learning process with your first time setup of these donations. Great idea though!

Kind regards from Chicago, Boris

@redsubmariner
Great Boris, thanks a lot for that "donation from Chicago", you see there is no problem doing it by paypal. The money is on the way to lèsperance. Paypal took 4%, but there is no problem to fill that up again. It is really much cheaper than bank wire ;) !!!
Good luck on Feb.4th :gut:
Have a nice day,
with very very kind regards from Germany to Chicago
