Auch in diesem Herbst ging es wieder in Richtung Afrika. Zunächst wie auch die letzten Jahre erst einmal nach Malawi.
Hintergrund waren mal wieder 3 riesige Taschen a 25kg mit Spenden für unsere Scouts.

Neben Stiefeln und Uniformen gab es auch diese Armbänder, die sehr großen Anklang gefunden haben.

Die 6 Tage begleitete ich unsere Scouts auf den täglichen Patrouillen. Im Vorfeld habe ich 14kg abgespeckt, was
deutlich spürbar war und mir ein leichteres Wandern ermöglichte.

Die Elefanten, gerade wenn sie noch sehr jung sind und in die Waisenfamilie aufgenommen werden, sind nach einer Eingewöhnungsphase (2-3 Wochen) schon sehr zutraulich. Kein Wunder, denn für die lebensnotwendige Milchflasche lässt man auch mal die Scheu fallen. Die Elefanten ziehen nach ca. 2-3 Jahren im Kindergarten in eine der Auswilderungsstationen um. Dort werden sie tagsüber "nur noch begleitet" im Nationalpark und haben Nachts ein sicheres Gehege.

Sobald diese sich entschließen wieder ein wildes Leben zu führen (das kann allerdings bis zum 10. Lebensjahr dauern) entwöhnen sie sich allerdings wieder sehr schnell und außer zu den Personen, die sie die letzten Jahre "begleitet" haben, verhalten die Elefanten sich auch wirklich 1:1 wie die wilden Artgenossen.

Hallo Richard,

an den Fällen ist die Wiederauswilderungsstation. Dort gibt es zur Zeit noch keine Besuchsmöglichkeit.
Die Waisenstation selber ist in Harare.
